Pretty nice quality. Has correct number of chess pieces so, there’s that. It’s heavier than you might think, but that’s because it’s made of actual wood. This is not some cheap Chinese stuff, but actual hand crafted (not using child labor apparently) and will provide hours of entertaining critical thinking playing chess. Unless you’re playing against someone way better than you and you just get frustrated and don’t play again.

After looking at a ton of sets, decided to give this one a shot for a Birthday present for my 9 yr old son. The quality of the board and pieces are good for the price. The pieces are weighted a bit so they don’t fall over. I like the hand carved look of the pieces and the board. The only complaint I have that kept this from being a five star review is storage compartment within the board. The slots to store the pieces are not sized well for a snug fit. However this would not stop me from buying this product again. Definitely a recommended product. My son was very happy with this set as was myself and my wife.

Gave as a gift to my son. He really liked it – he thought it was quite nice. He also liked the added bonus that the board folds up with the pieces inside. The pieces do move around a bit inside the case – they don’t stay perfectly in their slots. But as long as you are not throwing this around, it is not a problem. I liked the hand-carved look to the board.
